Project: Perth Waterfront
Client: Department of Planning
The Perth Waterfront project presents the first and most significant step in reconnecting Perth with its most important asset, the Swan River. The new waterfront will be a seamless extension of the city grid to the river, creating an inlet that brings water back to the city's doorstep. The project will create a world class place for the enjoyment of locals and visitors, where public access is optimised and the focus of activities is on the pedestrian experience. It will be a mixed use precinct where a diverse range of activities take place, day and night, all year round. It will show case architectural excellence in quality and design. Most importantly it will reflect the life and identity of the Western Australian community including an opportunity to celebrate indigenous culture.
The Perth Waterfront redevelopment project comprises 10 hectares of premium waterfront land with approximately 2.7 hectares of this land allocated to the proposed inlet. The site when fully redeveloped is projected to comprise:
- 150,000m2 office,
- 39,000m2 retail,
- 1,700 apartments,
- Hotel and serviced apartments, and an
- Indigenous Cultural Centre
The redevelopment is projected to host 9 million visitors per annum, create over 3,300 jobs per year during construction and have the capacity to host 15,000 to 20,000 persons for major events.

Appian Group's responsibilities in Phase 3 include the coordination of all consultants, management of all statutory planning and approvals, preparation of procurement strategies and all other works up to the appointment of a contractor to undertake the construction of the public infrastructure works.
