Project: Perth Arena Project

The Perth Arena Project is a state-of-the-art indoor sporting and entertainment arena, providing world class facility to bring national and international events to Western Australia.

 The government project will provide a venue to cater for a variety of indoor entertainment events, including the tennis tournament "The Hopman Cup", basketball, ice skating, and motorsports. The venue may also be configured to hold performances from large rock concerts to smaller classical events.

Construction commenced in May 2007 with a completion date targeted for early 2010. In late 2008, Appian Group was engaged to provide strategic direction to assist the government at a difficult stage of the project, following a need to re-plan the completion date. Appian Group stepped in, providing professional services for the administration of the contract and the management of the project.

In June 2009 Appian Group secured the consultancy services contract to provide management and administration services through to operational commencement of the facility on behalf of the Department of Treasury and Finance's Building Management and Works business.

This commission includes the full range of project management services such as design management of the building and its fit-out coordinating the project interfaces with external works, risk management, preparation and management of an integrated project program, planning and management of the commissioning and transition into operations, guidance and advice on contract and commercial issues to the Principal, budget management, stakeholder liaison and reporting to the Project Director.

The commission also includes contract management as the Superintendent's Representative.

Appian Group also provides services to the representatives from the government agency responsible for the venue upon completion of construction, Venue's West. These services include providing strategic advice on the project, fit-out and transition into operations.

The Perth Arena project is planned for completion mid 2011.
